I got this stupid camera as I thought it would be good while I was away... Seems to me to be a waste of money, crappy interface, stuff doesn't work like it should I've wasted more time than I should have to on something like this!
I've got it setup so I now finally receive push notifications on my iphone of a motion detection event.... I also choose in the setting for it to send me a snapshot on a motion detect... the 3 seconds before and after the detect option, so I should be getting 6 snapshots... All I'm getting is an email notification without any snapshots! I tried the other option (immediately is it??) and that did the same thing.... email notification without any snapshots....
This thing is no good to me without the snapshots! I shouldnt have to open the mydlink lite app and manually take snapshots!
also when setting up the email part in advanced settings no matter what I do the test constantly tells me incorrect username / password! I've tried 4 different emails accounts all using the correct smtp servers, ports, sender & receiver, username (part before the @ in the email), password is correct but this stupid POS keeps saying it's wrong...
So I ring support & give them access to my PC thru AMMYY watch them do the same crap I'd been doing for another hour, the support persons email & password gave same message (incorrect username / password) etc....
Then they tell me the camera must be defective because it isn't saving the details... but it is as far as I can see... everything is saving... So I've got an RMA number and am supposed to take this piece of junk back in the morning for a replacement... I really don't have much confidence in a replacement working either... I'm starting to think I should have gone with the Belkin.... at least you can record video straight out of the iphone app!

Here's an FAQ entry relating to email configuration: DCS Network Cameras - Email Settings (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48139.0)
I also recommend testing email using different security settings configured through the DCS-932L web UI, as this is also known to impact email success.

Thanks for your reply...
However that is the page I am trying to configure to get a test email sent. I have all the details entered as shown and it still keeps coming back with the incorrect user / password nonsense. I have verified the password and username are correct. The support team also couldn't get it too work.
I have a replacement camera and still have the same problem, this is ridiculous.
I've tried 2 different hotmail accounts, 1 gmail account and an Icloud email account all with the same problem.

What browser are you using? Try a different browser (e.g. Firefox) to rule out an incompatibility. I've experienced FW issues on different D-Link products over the years that resolved themselves after trying a different browser.
-
already tried chrome and explorer, both latest versions. Same problem in both.
my support request has been elevated to level 2! now it has been elevated to level 3! I suspect that could be code for we don;t have a clue how to fix your problem!

This is so frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is beyond me why it won't take a snapshot (or series of) automatically when motion is detected!!!!! It does everything else when it detects motion (email & push notification) so why no snapshots?????? I can only think it is tied into the problem with the email setup....

I don't have my DCS-932L up at the moment, but tested gmail on another D-Link camera. Here are my settings:
- SMTP Server Address: smtp.gmail.com
- SMTP Server Port: 587
- Sender E-mail Address: username@gmail.com (where "username" is replaced with my gmail username)
- Receiver E-mail Address: username@gmail.com (where "username" is replaced with my gmail username)
- User Name: username (gmail login name)
- Password: password (gmail password)
- Use SSL-TLS/STARTTLS: STARTTLS
To answer your question, yes, snapshots are emailed. If email isn't working, then the snapshots will fail, unless you are using an FTP storage location instead of email.

I tried those gmail settings again on the off chance it would work but am still getting invalid username / password.........
What is annoying is I am getting email notification of motion detect events.... I just can't input the settings on advanced settings > mail and get a successful test done.... which = no snapshots......
Does anyone know of a free, suitable / compatible FTP service I could use to have pictures sent, that I can access with my iphone?

what firmware version are you using?
-
Still no phone call from level 3 tech support.... only been waiting 18+ hours for a call which they said would happen within 2 hours! It just keeps getting better!
latest firmware which is 1.09 I think... hardware ver: A1. Firmware was 1.06 out of the box. To access mydlink.com it makes you upgrade to latest version. I tried downgrading to 1.06 on the first camera to see if it would help but it didn't.
I have had some luck using sensr.net as an ftp server..... they also send me email notifications.... with a single snapshot! They also record video at 1 frame / 1 second, triggered by motion detection which is stored online! I really shouldn't have to rely on a different company to make this dlink product useable and useful to me but it seems to be the only way I'm going to get any satisfaction out of it.
So it seems sensr.net does what dlink can't do for me... The catch is they only provide 7 days free, after that it's $10 a month, but I suppose that's just the price I will have to pay... which I really think dlink should pay seeing as they can't provide me with a working solution so far...
I was going to have a look at icam (skjm.com) also to see what they can do....
-
support sends me an email saying they rang but got no answer.... funny thing is I've had my phone with me at all times and it hasn't rung once... no missed calls either... just fantastic!
-
Well just over a month after I tried calling Dlink support they finally managed to ring the right number to contact me!
First they said the cameras don't work with Hotmail. They then proceed to attempt to set it up with gmail which wasn't working until I asked if we needed to turn the setting to allow access to less secure apps on, which we did and it seemed to work....
With gmail finally working we tried Hotmail again and discovered that Hotmail will work if you put username@hotmail.com in the username section not just the part before the @..............
Very frustrating given I got the camera to monitor things while overseas given I have been and returned from my trio now.... The only reason I didn't return it was because I used sensr.net to get the motion detect snapshots via ftp (for approx. $10/month)...
So after much hassle and frustration and far too much time talking to level 1 support staff who really don't seem to know what they are doing it is now working as it should.

Glad you got it working. You might ask for higher level of support if needed next time.
Enjoy.

Wow, so after searching for what seems like days, I finally got mine to work. Since I found this topic it seems as though there are still many people having problems.
SMPT server address: smtp.gmail.com
Server port: 465
Sender e-mail address: Username@gmail.com
Receiver e-mail address: Username@gmail.com
User Name: Username@gmail.com
Password: Created an app password through 2-step verification - Steps Below
Checked: SSL-TLS
Through g-mail settings, I enabled 2 step verification. Followed the instructions and received a text code to enable 2 step. Then went to app passwords and created a password for "other" apps. I entered the 16 digit code into the password column and it finally worked!! I walked back and forth in front of my camera a few times to make sure it e-mailed me those 6 pictures, too. Finally.
