Title: DIR-635 Problems. Loosing connection
Post by: vaskemaskinen on January 01, 2015, 05:05:46 AM
Dear reader,

I keep loosing the wireless internet connection in different ways, and I suspect that the cause is the settings of my DIR-635. Sometimes the router shuts down the wireless signal, and sometimes I get the message: "Please wait ... The gateway is currently measuring your network connection. Accessing this web page might have an effect on the measurement. This page will refresh shortly.". Do you have any suggestions on how I should setup my router?

What HW version is your router? Hardware Version: B3
What FW version is currently loaded? Firmware Version: 2.34EU

What ISP Service do you have? Cable or DSL? Fiber optics 25/25
What ISP Modem do you have? Stand Alone or built in router? Stand Alone modem
What ISP Modem make and model do you have? Allied Telesis (unknown model)

What wireless modes are you using? Mixed B, G and N. Auto Channel Scan. Transmission Rate: Best (automatic). Channel Width 20 MHz.
What security mode are you using? WPA-Personal
What wireless devices do you have connected? 2-8 devices connected
Any cordless house phones? No
Any other WiFi routers in the area? Only weak signals

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.
