Title: dir-625 security key can it be changed.
Post by: phantm on June 26, 2009, 10:22:23 AM
Hi

I did a search for this prior to posting but couldn't find anything so here it goes.

Following is based on a wireless setup that was working fine but the wireless laptop was reformatted and the security key was misplaced (not by me, so I'm not the *****).  Now the hardwired desktop is working fine with the dir-625 router but I need to change the security key number to get the laptop going again.  I don't want to have to do a reset and do everything over.  I know with many other routers this can be done easily.

If I go to 192-168-.0.1 is there a way I can click on a tab or button like wireless settings that I can see all of my pre-entered particulars including the security key number or I think Dlink calls it the pre-shared number.  Even if this number only shows with round bullets can it be deleted and a new key number entered and saved so I don't have to do the reset and start to fill in everything again.

Thanks

Normlly, you can not see the existing wireless security keys.  However, you will be able to change them.  Once changed, you will needed to re-do the wireless settings at every wireless "client" (aka laptops or PC that have a wireless adapter.)

Only once, in NYC, this past year in November.
They were good and all, and Id probably see them again if they came back, but Im in no rush. Seeing them once was more then enough for me.
