Title: Netflix control
Post by: Jailhouse on January 06, 2015, 12:02:59 PM
Hi There,

Firmware version 1.08, Region Netherlands, Europe.
I don't know where to put it on the forum.
My question is this.
I do have a netflix subscription. My childeren do have PG-control at netflix. But since it's a big success, they want to watch it way too often on too many devices. So, I either quit Netflix or I can find a decent way to control netflix on my router. You can imagine what I prefer .... Network filter, access control etc:
Is there a way to intercept a netflix stream so I can use a timeschedule on my router?
Thanks in advance!

Yes you can set up IP reservations for these devices first, then set up a schedule to allow them a time frame to watch NetFlix for these devices.

To set up scheduling:
1. Reserve device IP addresses ON the router under Setup/Networking.
2. Set up a schedule under Tools/Schedule on the routers web page. Customize your dates and times here.
3. Use Access Control under Advanced to apply the customized schedule to a policy and to the PC(s) desired to be controlled.
4. Ensure Time is set correctly on the router. Tools/Time.

If you have streaming going on you may wan to set up QoS rule as well to help manage the bandwidth being used for Netflix:

Thanks for the quick reply. stap 1 to 4 is oke for watching netflix with webbrowser.
dedicated apps for tablets and smartphone will not be blocked. I'll try your suggestion on QoS. It will take some time. I have to study/learn and try, but I will report back.
