Title: Upgrading to 1.37WW
Post by: nettewurk on January 13, 2015, 07:42:02 AM
OOps sorry.  Upgrading to 1.37WW, without enabling 20/40Mhz channel width, my connection slows down and checking by a scanner tool, it is limited to 150MBps.  Enabling it would speed up theoretically to 300Mbps.  But with prior firmware version, 300mbps indicated even the channel width is set to 20MHz only.  Is there connection with speed and connection stability?

FW Update Process (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=42457.0)

To attain 300Mb connect rates between the router and device, first ensure that your device support 300Mb connection rates on 2.4Ghz. Not all devices so.
Ensure drivers are up to date where supported.

Set the router to single mode N, Auto Channel Width, Auto Channel, and WPA2/AES only then test.

Factory reset was performed after F/W upgrade.  To confirm the isolated connection, using its default SSID with an 802.11ac device connected, both the windows tool and device tool indicate less than 150Mbps connection.   Difference with your  recommendation, I fixed the channel to 5 and WPA2/AES encryption.  As reported in my problem, only enabling auto channel width would enable also 300Mbps.  Anyway, if the configuration prevents it, I appreciate for your recommendation.  More power to you and this site's contributors

So were you able to achieve 300Mb connection rate between the router and the adapter?

Be aware that the Rev A is a Draft N wireless router thus maybe some incompatibility with newer generation adapters. Seen some issues with older model routers and adapters not working well with newer generation WiFi devices.

As indicate in my initial inquiry, I could only achieve almost 300Mbps ONLY IF 20/40MHz channel width my wireless N devices but disabling it, resorts to 138 Mbps connection.  On the other note, is 1.37WW the latest version for Rev A hardware?  If there are updates, please inform us the link of the new F/W version.  Thanks.

Yes to achieve 300Mb connection rates, auto 20/40 needs to be selected.
Yes, v1.37 is the latest and probably last FW release for Rev A routers.

Enjoy.  ;)

Thanks Furry!!!  More power to this forum.  But the other threads have very slow response.  Had posted many questions on DCS-6010L but still waiting on how to troubleshoot using newer firmware version :(

Is there any security reason to do this upgrade?  I still have this running well.

DIR-655 Firmware Version: 1.21
Hardware Version: A2

Thanks!

Not really. the v1.37 was to fix a problem seen with Samsung devices.

"If it works, don't fix it!"

Is there any security reason to do this upgrade?  I still have this running well.

DIR-655 Firmware Version: 1.21
Hardware Version: A2

Thanks!
