Title: Verizon Speed Match Not seeing it.
Post by: thecreator on February 05, 2015, 02:11:54 PM
Hi All,

D-Link DIR-655 A3 Router with Firmware 1.21. It is plugged into Verizon Actiontec Router Model MI424WR Rev. 1. My Speed is 50 / 50 Mbps verified when I plug directly into the Actiontec Router bypassing the D-Link Router.
My Speed is %0 Download and about 7 or 8 Mbps Upload.

Question: Do I need to upgrade my D-Link's Firmware from 1.21 to 1.37a to achieve the same speed of 50 / 50 Mbps or just go with the Actiontec Router and disconnect the DIR-655 Router?

Since I have a Wireless Livingroom Computer with a D-Link DWA-552 Ethernet Wireless PCI Adapter, the overall speed connecting to my D-Link DNS-323 Storage Unit is faster with the D-Link and half the speed when connecting through the Actiontec Router to my D-Link DNS-323.

Do I need to buy a new D-Link Router to achieve the same Speed Match from Verizon or Firmware Upgrade or a setting currently in the Firmware 1.21 to adjust?

When using the Actiontec Router, both Wired and Wireless show the same speed.  Not so, with the D-Link Router.

Is QoS and Traffic Shaping enabled?
Any filtering or other features enabled?

If the ISP modem supports 1000Mb WAN port speed, set manual 1000Mb on the 655 router and test.

Be sure to disable any PC security SW and firewalls while testing along with any other downloads. Disable any devices temporarily while testing.

Hi Fuzzy,

Thank you very much. Now I can leave the D-Link DIR-655 Router in operation.

I simply disabled the WAN Traffic Shaping. by unchecking Enable Traffic Shaping. That was the only change that was necessary. Found it located on the QOS Engine Tab.

Thanks again.

Some of the DIR series routers have a 2Mb soft cap limit on the QoS engine. Don't ask. So you have to disable TS and QoS on any ISP speeds higher than 2Mb.

Glad its working better. Enjoy.  ;)
