I recently purchased a DIR-860L router with my main intention of running a iTunes Server on a storage connected to this router. I did my research before I bought the router to confirm that this particular version supports running the iTunes Server. Now, although I have all the required configurations as listed below and being on the phone (nearly ~3 hrs) with D-link tech support, I haven't been able to find a solution to get my iTunes library shown on my iTunes v12 (Windows 7) or my iPhone.
1. Setup -> Media Server -> iTunes Server
Enabled
Not root - configured to the appropriate folder on the drive that is connected.
2. Advanced -> Advanced Network
Enable IPv4 Multicast Streams: [checked/enabled]
I am able to access the storage using the IP of my router, that seems to be working OK. The only issue I am seeing is the library not showing up.
Could anyone confirm if this feature is working on their router too? If anyone has a solution (such as permissions/filesystem type requirements) it would be of great help to me..
My router is running Firmware v1.08 and the H/w version is A1.
Thanks,
Sunil

- Setup DHCP (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58017.0) reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives.
- Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
- Enable uPnP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upnp) and Multi-cast Streaming (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicast) under Advanced/Networking. Enable IPv6 Multi-cast Streaming for routers that have a Media Server option.
- Turn off WISH (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40459.0), and WPS under Advanced.
