Title: Problem wired the router to Samsung Smart TV
Post by: Finrod128 on February 24, 2015, 07:02:52 PM
Hi, I've connect my Samsung ( PN51D550 ) to my DIR-860L directly ( wired ) , the network is ok, but cannot acces internet.

Samsung says it's a router configuration problem.

Here what I've try so far :

- Always broadcast : ON
- Enable SPI : ON
- Enable UPnP : ON
- Enable Multicast streams : ON
- MAC filtering : ON

Even DMZ for the TV IP adress !

Still can't connect to Internet, any ideas why ??

Thanks

Do other devices connect to the router and gain internet access? If so, then there maybe an issue with the TV itself. Does the TV get an IP address?
Does the TV have wireless support as well? Can you test the wireless on the TV if it has this support?

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Besure to log into the Admin account on the router.

Router DIR-860L

Hardware : A1
Firmware : 1.07
Location : Canada

TV : Samsung PN51D550C , latest Firmware ( 1019 )

ISP : Cable,
Modem : Arris TM502G

PC connected ( wired, Cat6 ) to router
Google Chromecast ( wireless ) connected to router / TV
2 Android phones ( wireless ) connected to router

The TV said 'Network OK' , and I can see correct IP adress ( identified in router ) MAC adress also ok, so Getway and subnet mask. DNS given by TV is same as getway ( the IP adress of the router : 192.168.0.1 )

Tried the 'workaround' of change DNS on TV to 8.8.8.8 with no luck.

The problem occurs to 'Internet connection' .TV said it connected to network but can't gain acces to internet.

I've try change the cables, even try with a D-Link Powerline CPL AV500 always same result : green light on networking ( confirmed Router VS TV ), but can't acces Internet. Cannot try 'wireless' acces directly to TV because I don't have the Samsung Dongle. I use the LAN Ethernet port.

Like a said, try MAC Allow, even DMZ. With no result.

P.S.: Also, of course, tried what you're proposing ( reserved DNS, tec, etc )

Thank for your help

Ok, so other devices get internet accept for the TV right?

Lets try this, connect the tv directly to the ISP modem and power cycle the modem. Check for IP address and internet access.

Also I believe your ISP modem has a built in router as well. If the ISP modem has a built in router, it's best to bridge the modem. Having 2 routers on the same line can cause connection problems: Link>Double NAT (http://www.practicallynetworked.com/networking/fixing_double_nat.htm) and How NAT Works (http://computer.howstuffworks.com/nat.htm). To tell if the modem is bridged or not, look at the routers web page, Status/Device Info/Wan Section, if there is a 192.168.#.# address in the WAN IP address field, then the modem is not bridged. If the modem can't be bridged then see if the modem has a DMZ option and input the IP address the router gets from the modem and put that into the modems DMZ.
