Title: To turn DIR-655 into a wireless access point, must AP be wired to main router?
Post by: scott14 on February 28, 2015, 02:55:20 PM
To use a DIR-655 as a range-extending access point for a different main router, can the connection between DIR-655 and the main router be WIRELESS?

The excellent explanation given at http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.msg140235#msg140235 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.msg140235#msg140235) shows the connection from the main router to the DIR-655 AP by ethernet cable. Well I don't want to use a cable.

This is the only method supported on the 655 in AP mode:
Turning a router into an AP. (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40856.0)

Wireless bridging or extending wirelessly is not support on this model router.  ::)
