When I type in the ip, or dlinkrouter.local, it comes up with a black screen, and asks for only a password. I'm on a mac, on Yosemite. I tried the password that was on the D-Link configuration card several times, and it hasn't worked.

The passwords on my card are for the wifi networks, not the router's admin console. My card says to leave the password blank so try that instead

Not sure this has to deal with the OP. I think it's the display rendering of the routers web page in his web browser that is a problem....

The OP is talking about being unable to login to the router's config page via his/her web browser after trying to put in "the password on the D-link configuration card".
The only passwords given on that little get started card are for the wifi networks - the card says to use a blank password when logging in to the config page, but OP is obviously not doing that. OP appears to be using the wifi password for the config page.
What am I missing here?

The pw is blank. Don't use the PWs that are on the configuration card. Those are for the wireless to connect to the SSID if you set it up that way. The routers UI admin page is blank initially upon 1st setup.
