I have a fan issue which frankly drives me crazy. As a unit I think the DNS 345 is a great product, BUT the bleep bleep fan is constantly going on and off all the time. Fair enough I could understand the fan running if I am accessing the hard drives and listening to music or a movie, but mine turns on and off all through the night without anything polling it. Summer / Winter doesn't matter what the temp.
I even took out one of the HDD thinking it might not be getting enough airflow and am even considering removing another HDD (although it kind of makes purchasing a 4 bay NAS pointless). It's got plenty of air ventilation around it and not in a hot room or in direct sunlight, so conditions shouldn't be affecting it.
Under the System Temperature Threshold I have it set on the maximum setting of 70c. The Fan Control Settings is set on Auto (Off / Low / High). On the Hard Drive Hibernation Settings I have HDD Hibernation enabled, and Turn Off Hard Drives set to after 15 minutes.
It should be turning off the HDD when not in use so not requiring a fan... I bought the exact same unit for my brother in law and I never hear the fan going on his. Suggestions please.

- What region are you located?
What FW is loaded?
Has a reset been performed to see if the default fan settings does the same thing?
I presume if you've done all troubleshooting, you may have a faulty unit which needs to be RMAd.
I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
