I live in Zimbabwe and have a wired connection and the link gaming and Qos for xbl doesn't seem to be for my hardware version as I cant get that kind of settings for my router or find the Qos settings anywhere so is there something wrong with my hardware version or something or has the wrong firmware been installed onto the router

I believe the 600 and 601 do not support any QoS configurations. If you have Port Triggering, then try using port 3074 for both local and remote trigger range and use the IP address of the xbox. Reserve the IP address for the xbox ON the router first. Then set up the Triggering. Be sure you network reset the xbox, turn OFF the xbox, then back after after you have set up the router to clear out any prior networking configurations ON the xbox.

Be sure uPnP is enabled under Advanced/Advanced Networking.

I have a phihong switching power supply which I think my be a modem but not sure and I cant seem to find any of the other settings that u mentioned I should do and for port triggering there is an option for nat port trigger should I enable that or not

  • What ISP Modem Mfr. and model # do you have?

  • Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual or under Setup/PARENTAL CONTROL/Set to>None: Static IP or Obtain Automatically From ISP.
  • Enable or Disable Use Unicasting (compatibility for some ISP DHCP Servers) and test under Setup/Internet/Manual. Disable may help with speed performance on higher speed ISP services.
  • Turn off DNS Relay (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=45143.0) under Setup/Networking. Link>Finding Faster DNS Addresses using Name Bench (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53222.0) and input new DNS addresses under Setup/Internet/Manual.
  • Setup DHCP (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58017.0) reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives.
  • Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
  • If IPv6 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipv6) is an option on the router, select Local Connection Only under Setup/IPv6.
  • Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall. Enable or Disable SPI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPI) to test.

Yes enable port triggering and use port 3074 to test with. Be sure to set the reserved IP address for the xbox On the router and point the trigger to this IP address...

Try both.

Does the drop down application menu contain a preset for Xbox Live by chance?

Ok, let us know with the manual configuration...

I'm looking at the user manual now for your router model. I hope we can get this going. If not, you may need a different model router.

Is this router new?

I put in the settings but it is still giving nat type strict and it cant get a teredo ip  but when I went onto the active clients list on my router I suddenly realised that it was blank and nothing was showing. it is about a year old  as I got it from my IT technician as the previous router broke

After you made the settings and rebooted the router, did you network reset the xbox configuration, turn OFF then back on then check NAT status?
Do a network factory reset of the xbox console:
1. Press the Guide Button on your controller, go to Settings
2. Select System Settings then Network Settings
3. Select Wired Network or your wireless network when displayed
4. Select Configure Network then Additional Settings tab
5. Select Restore to Factory Defaults then confirm when prompted.
6. Turn Off the xbox then turn back on.

What generation xbox do you have? 1st gen 360? 2nd Gen Slim, 3rd gen E series 360 or Xbox 1?

What is the WAN IP address that this router gets from the ISP modem or ISP service? Look at the routers status page and let us know if you see a 192.168.#.# or a 172 or maybe a 10.10.something here.

You may have a ISP router already in place before the DIR router. You have a private IP address on the WAN port of the DIR router and it needs to be a Public IP address, i.e. ##.##.###.###
Thus this is causing Strict NAT on the XB1.

You may need to contact your ISP service and ask them if you can get a Public IP address on the DIR-600 WAN port...
