 ??? The Raid Configuration: the time fluctuates like crazy

It will say

The RAID volume is synchronizing.Please wait for 92.8 minute(s).
after a refresh it says -
The RAID volume is synchronizing.Please wait for 148.1 minute(s).

my questions are is this normal and if so why. It has been a couple of hours there is little or zero accuracy on the real time it is going to take. That being said I am not even sure at this point if it is even going to work.

If you are writing or accessing the device while it is rebuilding, you will INCREASE rebuild time. Leave it be, it is doing its job.
