Title: No Internet connection
Post by: otieatkins on April 24, 2015, 10:52:24 AM
Hello. I have Time Warner internet service (30 mpbs?). I have a DIR655B1 router. I also have Directv. My Directv is telling me that I have no internet access (like when I try to go into On Demand). I have a Roku that works and I can see that if I go to Networks on my computer. My Directv used to work. I'm thinking that somehow I messed up the wireless connection to my TV.
I can't find my DLINK disc to help me set up my TV again by wizard and I do not have a clue on how to do it otherwise.
Is there anyone who can take me through each step on how to do it manually as if they were talking to a seven year old?
You probably need more information which I will be happy to provide if you tell me where to get it.
Thank you so much,
Dianne

Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Besure to log into the Admin account on the router.

Thank you so much for responding.
My hardware version is B1. My firmware version is 2.00NA.  I am in the beautiful State of Maine (Northeast Region).
My ISP is Time Warner Cable. My ISP modem Mfr is ARRIS and the model is TG862G.
The modem service uses Dynamic IP addressing.
The speeds are currently terrible - between 14-18 bpms? download and 2.07 - 2.21 upload (I tested a couple of times).
Do I do the Router and Wired Configuration or the Wireless Configuration or Both?  My TV is wireless.
Thanks, Dianne

When you go through the tv setup network steps do you see your wireless network (called ssid)? You should see its name and whatever close neighbor networks, and can select yours. It will then ask for your access passphrase that you use. If you do this and a) see no home network or b) it says connection failed, then the issue may be in your dlink router. Come back with your results.

Hi fzappa (is that for Frank Zappa?? - remember the song where he mailed himself to his girlfriend??)
Anyway, My network shows on my computer but does not show up as a choice on my tv.
Thanks, Dianne

Is this your modem?

Also your FW version is out of date and may need to be updated...Let check a few things first before updating FW.

You nailed the FZ reference.
You should follow furrynutz suggestions, but it would be good to have more details too. Did the tv used to connect to your wifi?  Why do you say you may have screwed things up? Did you change something? Was the tv or router moved?
Get furrys things checked out to eliminate those things.
