Title: No server found...please help
Post by: goober55 on July 01, 2009, 09:36:15 PM
Just got a DSM-520 and have spent over 3 hrs trying to get this thing to connect to my PC. I get it connected to the internet wirelessly & updated the firmware as well as listened to some radio stations, but I keep getting the "no server found" message and am unable to connect to the content on my PC. I installed the D-Link server software as well as TVersity and pointed them to the media files on my PC. I turned off the windows firewall, uninstalled Norton, tried using a Static IP as well as DHCP. Please can someone help before I throw this thing up against a wall ?

Thanks, Ed

Update......I installed the server software on a different PC & everything worked.  Not sure why as all the settings were the same, both had Win XP w SP2.  At least now it is working.

Probably because you had Norton installed on the PC previously.

If Norton was present before, you need to allow the ports for the DSM to operate properly. Just try to set the DSM first using dynamic to ensure that you can acquire an IP address and the device is connected to the network :)
