Title: DSL-6850U Problems
Post by: nitro89 on April 30, 2015, 10:41:18 PM
Hello, I have a DSL-6850U router that came pre-configured from my ISP.

Every random amount of time when I try to connect to my WIFI SSID my computer gets the ip 169.254.X.X.
The router will become unresponsive and the configuration menu (10.0.0.138) not accessible via web (sometimes the telnet keeps working).

The router will return to normal only after reset, but not for long...

Does anyone know what might be the reason?

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.
