Title: DSR-250 VPN L2TP server not working

Hi there,

Am trying to configure VPN L2TP server but it doesn't accept connections from MacOS 10.10 clients.
On D-Link VPN logs says: Wed May 06 15:11:06 2015 (GMT -0400): [DSR-250] [IKE] ERROR: Could not find configuration for x.x.x.x[500]
where x.x.x.x is client IP address

On Mac, system.log says:
May  6 15:10:46 Yosemite.local racoon[1478]: accepted connection on vpn control socket.
May  6 15:10:46 Yosemite.local racoon[1478]: Connecting.
May  6 15:10:46 Yosemite.local racoon[1478]: IPSec Phase 1 started (Initiated by me).
May  6 15:10:46 Yosemite.local racoon[1478]: IKE Packet: transmit success. (Initiator, Main-Mode message 1).
May  6 15:10:46 Yosemite.local racoon[1478]: >>>>> phase change status = Phase 1 started by us
May  6 15:10:49 Yosemite.local racoon[1478]: IKE Packet: transmit success. (Phase 1 Retransmit).
May  6 15:10:56 Yosemite.local racoon[1478]: IPSec disconnecting from server y.y.y.y
May  6 15:10:56 Yosemite.local racoon[1478]: glob found no matches for path "/var/run/racoon/*.conf"
where y.y.y.y is DSR-250 wan IP address

Does anybody knows if L2TP server will work woth Mac clients?
I do have PPTP server running fine but i'd like to use L2TP

• What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
• Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
• What region are you located?

Review the user manual and check for configuration information and setup...

Hi,

Hardware version A2
device came with firmware 1.09B32_WW and after having this L2TP issue i did upgrade to 2.01_WW. Same behavior under both firmware versions
Canada

I did follow the manual and D-Link instructions as per

Mac client is able to connect to other L2TP VPN servers.

I tried to initiate L2TP connection from Windows 7 and it fails as well, on DSR-250, VPN log shows same error:
Thu May 07 08:00:19 2015 (GMT -0400): [DSR-250] [IKE] ERROR: Could not find configuration for z.z.z.z[58639]

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.

Yes, i did contact their support yesterday and was provided with a different approach: VPN L2TP server does require IPSec setup as per below link:

This did fix my problem and now L2TP VPN server does work as expected.
