Title: DNS-325 Admin Inaccessible
Post by: dcteague on May 14, 2015, 06:56:14 PM
I've had the DNS-325 for a while and up until I purchased an iMac, I've had no issues.  Now however, I seem to have lost all access to the admin functionality of the product.  I've tried a factory reset, and have tried to plug it directly into my Windows laptop, but I cannot find the NAS in either the setup CD, or the setup utility.  I can however access files via wifi and via my iMac.

The other odd part is that I can find the files on my laptop via "My Computer" via wifi, but can't if I disconnect the NAS from my Apple Router, even if I plug the NAS directly into the ethernet of my laptop.

Not sure what's going on, but its getting really annoying.  Anyone have a suggestion?

When connected to the main host router, the DNS should get an IP address from the router. You may need to look at the routers DCHP table list to see if its listed there then try to use that IP address to gain access to the DNS web page.

Try a different browser, FF, or Opera to see if you can access the web page.

I can see the DNS from within the web browsing application, but I've been unable to see it from "My Computer" on a new laptop, and when I try to enter admin for configuration through either setup disc or through the original app, it just won't show up.  Doing all of the various file transfers from within the web app isn't all that appealing.

You have to ensure that the PC and DNS is on the same work group I think for it to appear in My Computer. If the work group or Local LAN name differs then it may not appear. Do you have access to the DNS via it's IP address?

The Setup and Easy Access apps are not required to access the DNS-325. The admin login page should be accessible via the DNS-325 IP address. If you log into your router web UI and identify the IP address of the DNS-325, you can enter the IP address in a web browser on a PC located on the same LAN as the device to access the DNS-325 web UI.
