Title: NAS is broken, HDDs are looking fine. What can I do?
Post by: nagydee on May 18, 2015, 04:22:08 PM
Hi

My DNS-320 is broken. A chip is burned out, but HDDs are looking ok. On one R-Studio can see all the files and filenames, on the other one can find files, but no filenames. It was a JBOD configuration.
If i buy an other DNS-320, and put the HDDs in, will it work?
Or can I extract the files whit filenames somehow?

thx

ps. sorry about my english

If you purchase a replacement unit and install the same FW version, you should be able to simply drop the HDDs into the replacement DNS-320. I recommend labeling the slot location on each HDD using a magic marker so you don't confuse their source/destination when you move them to the new DNS-320. Mixing up the slots may result in lost data.
