I have dir 810l router, can I attach some sort of rj45 to usb converter to this router, so that I may be able access files on my hard disk (seagate expansion) wirelessly.
If not possible, should I purchase a router with shareport facility. I need a router with good wifi range. What do you guys think about dir 850l.
I bought a 510l router on amazon, but returned it as it's 5GHz band range was very very small, couldn't even cross one wall.

- What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
- What region are you located?
You could connect a USB to LAN converter.

Hello,
Thanks for your reply :). That was really helpful.
Will this work:

Do you think this tutorial and device will work, if I want to access these files on my iPad mini.

I don't have any experience with using adapters of this kind so I'm sure if it will or not. I presume it may. You'll need to contact the Mfr of that adapter and ask for help and information regarding it to see what it does and supports.

Thanks a lot for all the help.
Does anyone else have any idea about these rj45 to usb converters?
One more thing, I know that N band in routers has better range than AC band, but what about download speeds(be it website or file download), which one is better.

AC has better speeds.
I'll try and post my test results when I first got my 810L a while back. ;)
