Title: Use a magnet to fix the purplish color
Post by: urahara on May 29, 2015, 02:18:01 AM
Hi Guys,

The color from my 5020L have just turn purplish for several days. So I came in here and search around a bit.
These are what I found from those threads:
- Changing firmware doesn't help.
- It could be fix by tapping. (I tried but no luck)
- Should be hardware problem with some kind of magnetic switch.
And I notice that there is no "click" sound from my device when changing day/night mode.

So I bring my magnet(pretty strong one) and move it around the camera ..."CLICK" color are back to normal!! Yeah!!
- You have to put the magnet around 7 o'clock point of the camera face.
- If change it to Night Mode, you have to do this trick again.

Hope these thread be helpful to you somehow, Have a good day :)

Thanks for your suggestion. The Day/Night mode cutover is driven by a magnetic IR cutover switch. There have been reports where this switch has gotten stuck in either mode (or somewhere in between). The lack of a clicking sound when transitioning between Day and Night modes is a telltale sign that the switch is lodged.

I can't officially sanction your suggested fix as I can't comment on the impact a strong magnet may have on other camera components.

Now post like that are exactly why I still come back to this forum from time to time to see what's new.

Much better than my 'butter knife tap' I was using !  Thanks so much.
