Title: Guest Zone
Post by: defaultPlayer on July 03, 2009, 12:50:04 PM
I'd like to see the Guest Zone added to the DGL-4500 considering all of the other Xtreme N routers have the ability to set it up.  Personally, it would really help when guests want or need to connect to the internet without me giving away my passphrase/key or having to set it up for them.  Plus, the Guest Zone lets me decide if I want to allow guests to connect to other devices on my network or keep them separate from my secured wireless or wired network so they can't snoop around.

What's everyone else's opinion on adding the Guest Zone for the DGL-4500?

+1  I loved the feature in the later releases of the dir-655 before it failed a couple years back

LMAO...I of course know of the other issues...read my posts. I also would like to add to the positive thinking.  ;D

Positive thinking ??? ...sure

Look at it this way, every time they "add" something it leads to a whole new set of problems. So the fact one would suggest "adding" anything more to the router (given the past additions) is almost thinking in the negative.

True everything done on the router has made it worse but think about it this way...at least they will have some things that people would like about the router after it is stable. I am not holding my breath but I am hoping.  :P

Personally I'd rather have 1.02 back.  Fewer features but rock solid.

I believe even their guest zone is broken.  Furthermore, it's had a USB port on it since it's release.  Yet, it took over a year for them to get it functional.

There's LOTS of stuff that wasn't implemented that they claimed it would before the launch.

And even still, there's more bugs than ever, and still unresolved ones especially for gaming and wireless.
