I am fairly knowledgeable about home networking but i am curious about something in particular. I would like to change the internal ip addresses on my network to something like 172.x.x.x, as opposed to the default 192.168.x.x.
I currently own a D-Link DIR-628, does this router allow me to do this? Also what are the benefits of doing this? If so, which screen do i make these changes at?

Yes you can change the Internal IP address of your router, you will just log in to the page of the router go to setup>network settings tab and you can change there the Internal IP address of your router.
