Title: DIR-810L Wireless Router extremely slow and drops the connection
Post by: abacabb on June 08, 2015, 11:58:51 AM
My new DIR-810L Wireless Router is extremely slow and drops the connection for 3 different laptops in my house.  I had an older dlink router that extended my current wifi connection from my AT&T modem and it never dropped the connection to any of my devices.  This one seems to roll in and out.  I had DNS relay enabled but it made browsing the web extremely slow so I had to turn it off.  I used the wizard initially to setup the connection DHCP, etc.  It's on the newest firmware 2.03.B02.  Is there settings I should change manually on either the router or the modem?

Odd thing is it seemed to be running extremely nice when I first installed it and set it up.  It was about a week or so I noticed it having issues.

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

Hello,

Thank you for the tips, I will try them out when I get home.  Do you know if these would fix the issue of the connection dropping?  I'll be on my laptop with full signal and all of a sudden it drops down to 0-1 bars.  Also, simple small downloads/uploads that took seconds before take up to 10-30 minutes.

Possible. Also we need more information regarding this so please answer the questions presented so we can get a better idea of your system. Most reason why there is a loss of connection is usually other wireless interferences.
