Title: Lagging Network Speed
Post by: jeaves726 on July 05, 2015, 07:53:48 PM
So far, I'm pretty unimpressed with the speed of our network.  I haven't seen a noticeable difference in the AC3200 and the Dir-655 that we just replaced.  Every time I do a speed test on a website, it shows our download/upload limits so the internet speed is ok.  When we try to load webpages, we get incomplete images now with the new router (which did not happen with the old router).  This is what we see (http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz244/jeaves726/Screenshot_2015-07-05-15-34-17_zpssyje7c5u.png) (http://i832.photobucket.com/albums/zz244/jeaves726/Screenshot_2015-07-05-15-34-31_zpsahvkdaxu.png)

(hopefully the links work)

I have Smart Connect enabled on the router and my connection speed says I'm at 433MB.  The connection gets worse when there is a wall in between the device and the router.  I didn't expect it to drop out so much though when an older model works through the same wall.  This was supposed to have directed service and better wireless coverage than the previous model we had.

Would it be better to disable smart connect and run the three networks?

Thanks in advance!

Please set with SC disabled and see how things go for you...

With Smart Connect disabled, the devices seem to connect at the same speed but the connection seems more solid.  Videos from sites like facebook sill severely lag, but it is better. With smart connect on they wouldn't play at all and pictures would only load halfway.  The pictures load better, and the videos take a while but will eventually play.  Sadly, after buying the extremely expensive router, disabling wifi works better than being connected on my phone.  The laptop is ok on some videos, but still lags there as well and pictures are hit or miss.  A wired connection is pretty decent.
