Title: DIR-501
Post by: Songbird on July 17, 2015, 11:07:35 AM
Hi.  I hope I'm posting this message at the right place for I couldn't find the board for this model.

Been having connection problems oft and on since I started using the router almost one year.  Sometimes it runs
well for several days and then comes the bad phase when it briefly & periodically keeps getting disconnected and connected.
A couple of days ago it got disconnected and didn't connect at all, until I unplugged and replugged the power cord.  Then it
began working but the brief disconnections persist.

I was told that perhaps I need to get an update of the firmware of my router model.  Any information on that please?

Your feedback and necessary guidelines would be helpful.   Thanks.

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.

Hi!  Not sure if I would know answers to all questions.

Version on router case sticker says H/W Ver.A1  F/W Ver 1:00.

No idea which Firmware version is presently loaded.  Nor do I know how to locate to locate the router webpage.  However, the router was
purchased last June, if that may help.

I'm using DSL service.   Modem name/model Comtrend CT-5072T.

Router placement is close to the computer on the same table next to the modem.   No electronics close by.

Just wondering, could there be a problem with the surge protector I'm using.  It looks okay from the outside but it's an old one, about 10 yrs or more.

Found on the routers web page under status.

What region are you located?

Try in a different area...
