Title: Anyone having issues when QOS & use of GuestZone (=bounced clients)?
Post by: Brother_Bluto on July 17, 2015, 05:00:21 PM
Currently working with D-Link support on an issue that I've narrowed down to having QOS active, and a user logging onto the GuestZone.  When that scenario occurs, my regular connected clients get disconnected (both wired and wireless).  If I don't use QOS, then no issues.   Worked with D-Link for a while on it two weeks ago, and they sent me out another router.  But unfortunately, the replacement DIR90L has the same issue.  Just upgraded to the latest FW 1.07 and problem is still there.  Supposed to get a call back from the next level up the support chain.

Since both routers have same issue... thinking the problem is somewhere in the firmware and wanted to see if anyone else is experiencing the same issues.

BTW - kudos to the thread on the workaround for Android issues (deactivating IPv6).  Have been frustrated with the speed on my phone/Tablet until I came across that thread today.

How is QoS configured? Only setting up non GZ clients in QoS?
If you disable GZ, does it still happen?

Region = US (TN).
Yes, factory reset performed and setup from scratch.
Factory resets performed before and after firmware update and then setup from scratch.
Problem verified on last two firmware versions.
Replacement router had same problem out of box after setup from scratch.  Went back in box.
Issue occurs when at least one (or more) client(s) are assigned to QoS -and- then a GZ client logs on.  The GZ client(s) are not assigned in QoS.
No issues if I don't assign QoS - or- if I disable DZ... but I bought the router to enable both.

I have also changed firewall settings, disabled Smart Connect as well as disabled the IPv6 and issue I described still remains.  Important to note that both wired and wireless clients get bounced when a DZ client logs in.

Is there anyone that has QoS clients active, AND has GZ clients active and isn't having the issues I describe?

This issue is interesting... so I decided to check it... and it fact is an issue.  My router reboots, not when the client connect to the Guest Network, but when the client tries to send any communication to the internet.  I can make it happen every time.

Hope there is a fix soon!

Thank you for confirming this. I'll forward this onto D-Link for review.

Well thank you FurryNutz,

I felt they needed to know also, so I have opened a case with D-Link Support now. Those guys are great!... they are gonna escalate the case to a Network Engineer at the US Headquarters and let me know if there is a fix coming.
I should be expecting a call in the next 24 hrs. We'll see what happens, I'll keep you guys updated...

Let me know if you hear anything from your end.

Wow, good news, these guys are fast... the network engineer called me a few minutes ago and they are gonna give me access to a beta code to verify by next week.

I will keep you guys posted when I get it.

FIXED!!!

Good news everyone, I received a copy of a firmware version 1.08.b03 this morning.  After loading the firmware and configuring my router, everything looks good... no restarts after activating QoS and Guest Zone when using the new code.  They tell me it is gonna be available soon in their US support site.

Once they release it, it looks like this issue has been fixed!  Thanks you guys!

Thanks all for digging into this!  I never did get a call back from D-Link's next level support... and unfortunately I've been travelling so haven't had time to follow-up on my end.   Will upgrade the firmware and contact D-Link to send back their replacement router.
