Title: Dir615 did I burn out by overheating?
Post by: Stevedask on July 19, 2015, 08:42:47 AM
Dir615 v C1 current firmware

Working fine until after very hot day Toronto canada area yesterday and no a/c on as I wasn't home.

Now router just has the green dlink symbol and Amber power button blinking only and will not boot up.  No wifi signal & can't reach with 192.168.0.1

Tried holding reset button 20 seconds before & after power cycle but nothing

New laptop doesn't have Ethernet connection port so can't try hardware.

Is it fried from the heat or might I be able to recover it if I get a hardwire Ethernet cable to a computer?
Thanks

Found problem - power supply problem.  Tried a power cord from a seagate drive that fit (12V --- 1.5A instead of dLinks 5V---2.5A but works) and router works fine again.

You can get replacement power adapter from Dink if you phone contact them. I recommend using same spec adaptor only to avoid damage.
