Title: Download Speeds & Remote Management.
Post by: Osiran on August 18, 2015, 04:56:28 AM
Hi All,

This is my first post so forgive me if I miss anything.

I used to use a WD Mybooklive 2TB but found that I was nearing my limit so decided to upgrade to the DLINK 2 bay NAS enclosure with 2 x 3TB drives. I am unsure but one of the drives has issues with 'File no longer in location' but it seems more likely the drive is faulty.

I was using a 10/100mbps switch but have read that to get the full capabilities I should upgrade to a gigabit switch, which I have now done.

I issue is download speed? I am getting a maximum of 349kbps. I am using a 50MB connection so I really don't get why the speeds are so low. I have tried from multiple locations one where the connection speed is 100mb but I am still getting the same issue.

I do have a 500mbps powerline adaptor that connects me to my router via the switch but I can't see that it would be that...Any ideas?

I would also like to know if its possible to manage the nas remotely, I put in my public IP with the port 8080 but after the password page it just gives me a page not displayable error.

Thanks in advance.

Osiran

What happens if you move the DNS directly connected to the main host router and check speeds?

What Mfr and model is the main host router?

You can manage some things using the mydlink.com (http://mydlink.com) services as well.
