Title: Wifi issue, but still have ethernet
Post by: markashy on August 26, 2015, 10:14:12 AM
Ok, so this is a very weird problem, I understand.

Currently I have a Comcast business modem connected to my d-link.  I then have the d-link feed a WiFi network and go into a switch to feed my other computers via ethernet.  Everything works fine.

I activated (through comcast) a new Surfboard SB 6183 modem (replacing the current comcast modem) and connected it to the d-link.  I get internet via Ethernet all over the office to those computers connected via ethernet, so I know my router is getting internet, and I see my same WiFi SSID, HOWEVER, I can connect to the wifi network, BUT I don't get internet access. I have tried 3 devices, an android phone, an android tablet, and an iPad, all do the same thing..connect to the network, and have no internet access.

What could my new modem not be providing that my old one did, that would cause only wifi from the d-link to not allow internet access???And how do I fix it?

I do see that the comcast modem has LAN DHCP enabled, but I don't think the sb6183 has that option.  That said, the d-link has it enabled as well.

I have no idea what to do!!  Please help!!

Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Besure to log into the Admin account on the router.

What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.  I am on hardware A3
Link>What Firmware version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.  Firmware Version :1.33NA,  2010/01/19
What region are you located?  Located in North America, Florida, United States

I tried updating to the newest firmware, and it looked like it took, BUT, when it rebooted itself, it said the same firmware

I appreciate you being willing to take a look.

I will definitely be reading your post on what to do with the settings!
