Title: DIR890L cannot connect to router login from secondary computer on network.
Post by: Papamalo on September 03, 2015, 06:47:12 PM
Hello. Just got my unit out of the box no less than an hour ago.
My setup.

I am getting "Xfinity extreme 250" internet service, and the modem is proprietary to Comcast/Xfinity.

1: I am running and ethernet connection to my main computer form that same modem (not wireless)
2: I am also running the D-Link DIR890L  from that same modem.
3: No problems with wireless, great reception, easy setup
4: My problem: Even though I can see the D-Link DIR890L on the "connected devices" list of the Xfinity gateway router/modem, I cannot sign in to the router from my Ethernet connected computer, even though my xfinity router controller sees it on the network.

I need to make my ethernet connected computer, a control device for the D-link router, or I will have to use a latptop wireless, or go downstairs every time I want to make a change.

Any ideas on solutions?

Thanks!

P.S. Apparently. DIR890L set up, will nto work qwith either a Samsung galaxy Tab 3, nor a Samsung Galaxy S3 phone, AND "support" hangs up on the first ring.

NOT COOL DLINK

If you use the ISP modem as the main host router you can run the 890L as a wired AP using AP mode. This will need to be configured so that your computer can access the 890Ls web page.

Try disabling IPv6 ON the router and ON the phones. Been some issues with those phones not working well with IPv6 and routers.
Aksi test With Smart Connect disabled.

Yeah. after several hours I gave up and purchased a cheap laptop with wireless, to control the router from my computer.

Now that I have, I want to thank you for your help, and ask another question.
Aside form updating software, what can I do in settings to make the thing run at it's fastest, or are the default setting fine.

Thanks!

Fastest as in wireless? Kind of varies on that due to capabilities of client HW and how it's designed and what it supports. Leaving Smart Connect enabled should work well to keep devices going and working well.
