HI,
I have had a 202L since the beginning of the year with 3 933L cameras. I have upgraded the firmware a few times this year (and again this week to the latest after this incident).
I had the system all set up and going good (so I thought). On Monday something happened in front of one of the cameras and I needed to look at the footage. when I watched the footage it showed the first 45 (ish) seconds of the footage, just enough to see the person enter frame stand there and turn around about to do the naughty thing I know they did and the footage stopped. on the 202 webpage it says the footage goes from 09:15:36-09:20:46 but I am missing everything after the first 45ish seconds. The camera was on 10fps high quality but now I have bumped it up to 30fps @3mbps to hopefully avoid this issue in the future.
I have put the HD on another computer and copied the file, but it is a *.db file so I can't get it to play on anything else. it is about 110mb big.
I just want to know will I ever see this footage or is it lost for ever?
Can I play these *.db files on anything else?
If I have asked this question and it has been answered elsewhere can you please point me in the right direction (I searched the forum but found nothing so far).
THanks for you help.

I believe that .db files are a DNR specific file used in it's operation and data base. I think these are database files read by the DNR only and are not user viewable. All other video files should be though.

Hello again,
these .db files are the only files i can find on the drive (there are no video files in any of the other folders), the sizes match the recording times too.
Is anyone else having issues with playing back files?
i tried reverting the firmware as i know this didn't happen on the older firmware V1 but still did not play (i assume since it was recorded with V2 firmware). i used to playback the footage all the time on V1 firmware with no issues like this.
you can't export the footage either.
it would be nice if these things failed when you didn't need the footage.

I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email or FB> https://www.facebook.com/mydlink?fref=ts.
Let us know how it goes please.

There's a download for HDD Viewer on the DNR-202L Support page at MyDlink.com. It's designed to view the database files separately from the DNR-202L.

I have this exact same problem, running with the 2.02 Firmware on the DNR-202L. A recorded video from motion detection may be 3 minutes long, but I can only view a portion of it. Using HDD Viewer to playback the files make no difference, so the issue seems to be in the recording.
Was there ever any resolution with this?

Have you tried DView Cam?
