Title: Amazon SES - Email Notification
Post by: farchanjo on September 18, 2015, 10:39:36 AM
Hi All,

I'm trying to use amazon ses to send e-mail, but I had issue with the number of chars on password field.

Does someone have the same issue?

Thanks,
Fabricio

How long is your password?

There has been issues with other D Link products with number of characters

If your password is more than 15 and assuming this might be the issue - could you create another email with another email provider whereby your password can be less than 16 just to test?

40 ~ 45 Chars.

I don't define the password. Amazon SES create the credentials for me. I cannot change it.

Is this Amazon SES a home or business kind of account?

There's no definition for bussiness or home account. You can just active the service and send e-mail via SES, but we don't have handle about the credential. It is like S3, in fact is the same.

AccessKey and SecretKey, but they use it as SMTP Auth.

Looking at this:
https://aws.amazon.com/ses/details/ (https://aws.amazon.com/ses/details/)

Seems like it's targeted at business who need bulk email services. I presume this is based on small to large business class needs thus maybe a policy at Amazon to configure and use PWs larger than what these home class DNS units support. You might contact Amazon and or D-Link on the phone and ask about this.

Anyone can subscribe an amazon service, but has a credit card.

:D

I have machines there and use S3/Glacier for recycle services for backup to me.

I'll try do a post with all parameters on the NAS's API. I think it JS validation.

Let us know if you find out anything. It would be good if you could reconfigure the PW length.

I make post via API on Storage, but not working.

My solution:  I have one intel nuc as Media Center. I installed a postfix on there, then make a relay to amazon. Now, it's working.

I think 31 chars is too small, maybe 100 or 255 is the normal.

Thanks,
Fabricio

31 maybe normal for home class users. Maybe more for business.

Enjoy.

Sorry, but  i don't agree.

The same limitation is for username, if the user had e-mail auth method could excceed 31 chars easily.

Ps: It's my bussiness email: fabricio.a.fonseca@archanjo.eti.br  35 chars.

If the system can send e-mail on body with too much lines, there's no reason to limit the authentication.

So, my opinion.

However the DNS is for home class though.  ::)

Ok, I agree with it.

but I'm here giving suggestion for a better software.

Anyway, I have solved it, maybe I'm losing my time talking here for improvement to the software.
