Title: DHCP Server Config help
Post by: JeBeL on July 07, 2009, 02:42:13 PM
Hi,

can anyone assist me with the following DHCP config on a DFL-210 - I'm new to the D-Link range and on the much mentioned 'steep learing curve' for the product.

I want to have a range of IP addresses assigned on the network, some are static and some are dynamic. Simple enough, yet I want the dynamic addresses assigned from a separate pool on the interface, and can't figure out how to do it. For example:

Network: 192.168.1.0/24
Client Range: 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.199
Static IPs defined: 192.168.1.1, 192.168.1.21 (essentially, static IPs managed via DHCP server in range 192.168.1.1 - 192.168.1.99)
Dynamic IPs: I want these assigned from a pool 192.168.1.101 - 192.168.1.199

Any ideas???

Thanks in advance!

create a pool for your DHCP server that is an IP Address Group, have the members be your dynamic pool and all your static IPs (you are going to have to list them anyhow for their reservations).

Then add static reservations to that DHCP server for each of your static hosts as they are added, remember you won't be able to define them as a static host until you have added them to the DHCP pool group object.
