Title: DlNA uPnP now showing any files
Post by: Roh on November 08, 2015, 12:51:56 AM
Hi I attached USB drive to my router (Patriot USB stick 32gb FAT32), enabled UPNP and DLNA. I can access the drive via my PC, webbrowser and via SharePort app on my IPad and play media (mp3/mp4) using it.

BUT I cannot access it via any other player on Ipad (I tried VLC and PlayerXtreme). I mean I see tha name of shared library but when I click it, it is empty, no media is shown.

This bugs me, because Shareport app is not very user friendly (it shows all files in one big list without folders, pretty unusable if you ask me)  and I would like to use different player.

edit: I tried VLC on PC Windows 7 and again I can see the name UPnP shared drive but I cannot click on it.

My router:
- DIR-645 A1  FW 1.04 on Telekom Optical net
- eastern europe
- pc is wired, wireless ipad

Thanks for help

Check with the mfr is the VLC app and what it supports for file format and extension formats.
Log into the routers USB connection my mapping drive in Windows:

Vlc supports mp3 of course. And my issue is not about mapping usb drive, that works allright. This is about upnp. I want to access my mp3 via ipad.

i was able to see the files in VLC windows version, but then it was again not possible I dont know why..

You might contact the Mfr of the app and ask for help and information regarding this. Seems if it works for the most part. Possible app issue.
