Title: DNR-202L 2.02 Firmware Upgrade. WTF?
Post by: Dystronic on December 31, 2015, 09:39:38 PM
"Upgraded" firmware from some 1xx version to the latest v2.02. mostly because of certificate issues prohibiting video being displayed and the fact that saved .avi's were being mysteriously hidden and corrupted.

After flashing I attempted to load the local web GUI in various browsers and had them fail to accept my password. I found that it had been blanked. There was no password and in fact not only had all the setting been factory reset, but the whole days video recordings were missing. Once logged in under default credentials, I went to change the default null password. With no apparent way/button to accomplish this I found that you have to doubleclick the admin user to modify its password.

The camera list has also been blanked. Unfortunately, at the time of this post the Camera autodiscovery has proven fruitless and there is no apparent way to manually add a camera. I suppose I will let it bake overnight and keep my fingers crossed but for now I'm looking at 4 blank screens.

ATTN DLINK. While a firmware update was sorely needed, this is a superbly krappy implementation. It's as if there was 0 (ZERO, NULL, NO) attempt to check the candidate for quality or functionality before release. I'm guessing you subbed this out to the lowest bidder in some third world sh1thole and posted the resulting .BIN without even validating its operation.

Cant wait find out what other bugs await me once I manage to get a camera operational.

Great work guys.

Did you clear browser caches before and after upgrading FW?
Did you disable all PC security SW before starting the FW update?
What browser do you use with the DNR?

FW update will clear PWs, configurations and such after the Update.

What camera are you using with the DNR?

Run the DNR setup wizard to add your cameras...

I dont seem to be able to update the firmware. I followed the instructions, downloaded the latest (v. 2.0) firmware, put it in a formatted USB drive under the name update.bin. When I press the search button and connect the recorder the process starts with the long beep and then the short one. Then I can spend 15 minutes holding the search button and not hear the 2 beeps, nor see the flashing red light. I have tried different USB sticks, to no answer. What can be happening?

Try downloading the FW via PC and DNR LAN wired to your network or router using the DNRs web page....

I have just installed the new firmware 2.02 and I am facing the sabe problem. My cameras are no longer detected.
I have 2 DCS-932L and one 930.

Have you found a solution for your problem?

Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48135.0)

What Mfr and model is the main host router?
What wireless modes are you using?
What is the distance between the Camera and the main host router?

Did you power cycle the cameras after the FW was updated on the DNR to see if they were detected? I know I left my 1 933L ON and it was detected and I saw video after updating FW.

Test cameras with uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding both enabled on ALL cameras: DCS Cloud (L) Series Camera Configuration and Mydlink.com (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=62395.0)
