Title: Suddenly slow Upload rates
Post by: Knuddelwuffi on February 03, 2016, 01:43:07 AM
Hey guys,

I bought the DNS 320L end of last year, together with 2 Toshiba 4TB disks.
I started with one disk, then added second, both as Standard format.
Writing rates were over 40MB/s
Then I decided to make it safer, copied all files to external disks and formatted to Raid 1.
When trying to write the files back, I only got writing speeds of 9-11 MB/s. I did a firmware update to 1.06, still the same rates.
So I decided to go back to Standard format. But now, the writing speed in standard format is still at 9-11 MB/s. I even tried the Raid 0 format, still the same slow speed.
I didn't change anything on my network setup. Both, the 320L and the PC are connected to a TP Link TL-SG1005D Gigabit Switch, which itself is connected to the Router.
Anyone has any ideas? I'm just going cracy over this...
Thanks in advance.

Did anything change with your computer operating system - win 7 updates, win 7 updated to win 10?

If nothing has changed then the speed should not change but there is always strange things happening with windows updates that can change how the network operates and just how SMB/CIFS handshaking takes place, usually to the detriment of network throughput.

It seems youre running it just on Fast Ethernet, 100Mbps, instead of Gigabit, 1000Mbps. This seems to be your problem. Check on your router, computer and on NAS settings what Ethernet speed are they running.
