I have been using a DIR-868L for the past few years as my main router and had been using DIR-655's with the routing and DHCP disabled for access points to the remote parts of the house.
Recently to get to 802.11AC I bought a DIR-859 to replace one of the DIR-655s. I have it set up as an AP only, not a router. However, I started thinking, because this is a newer device, are there any advantages to swapping them? Does the 859 have more functions or is the 868L a better router?
Any insight is appreciated.

The wireless speed rates are the same between the two.
I can only see that the 868L has SmartBeam were the 859 does not.
The 859 has external antennae where the 868L is internal.
I don't see a USB port on the 859 looking at the specs. ???
Yes the UI is different and so is the QoS engine.

Then in simple terms, that means don't change it ;)
