Post by: ikaroweb on February 18, 2016, 11:41:06 PM
Hi :)
I've updated the firmware to 1.07 and enabled the ssh service.
When i try to connect to ssh i've this error:

admin@192.168.1.104's password:
Last login: Fri Feb 19 07:36:49 2016 from 192.168.1.106
WARNING: Your password has expired.
You must change your password now and login again!
passwd: No such file or directory
Connection to 192.168.1.104 closed.

I've changed password but without success to login on ssh.

Sorry for not being able to help, but I have to ask: Where did you get FW 1.07? The latest one referenced here seems to be 1.06b03. Is the 1.07 an official D-Link FW? Was ssh access added with that release?

If the FW still supports fun_plug (which, according to the release notes, 1.06 does *not*) you could possibly use that to hack something together.

Which site did you download the 1.07 firmware version from?

You may be having a problem because it is not intended for you region and may cause problems with stored defaults.

Another thing, what fault or bug were you trying to fix with the firmware upgrade?

Note: Using the latest firmware on a working system is not a good idea unless it fixes a bug that is causing problems or has a new feature that is required.  In fact it is possible for the new firmware to bring new bugs with it.

According to the official D-Link Spanish site the latest firmware for the DNS-320L version 1.06b03 of 28/07/15.  Non of the D-Link European sites show any firmware later than 1.06.

The ftp site you mention requires a username and password, something that no official D-Link site requires, not even when D-Link ran an FTP site for downloads.

All I can suggest is that you download the 1.06b03 firmware from the D-Link Spain site and install that on your NAS which may require the use of the JTAG connector for direct access.

If you have a single disk and it was formatted as a standard disk then read the 'Data Recovery' sticky at the head of this forum.  It will require a USB/SATA adapter or caddy with external power and either a Linux PC or live Linux DVD or special software for windows to be able to read the Linux Ext3/4 file system.

I remember these bugs :
To modify applications installed (addon manager) I should go to main screen... push button applications and use addon managger button of the right part of the screen of the list of apps installed..
If I use application button of upside main screen, in the left list the "addon manager" line does not appears and I can not modify apps.
The manual button of ON  off does not shutdown the nas (I should poweroff quitting power connector)
I push button during 5 secs . It begin blinking... but after 10 minutes , it continues on.

please check this problems (i am the only??)

Hi josu,

I am pleased that you have managed to retrieve your data but I am still trying to find the elusive version 1.07 of the firmware (I can find a 1.07 for the DNS-323 but nothing for the DNS-320l.  Could you please post the full URL for it - ftp://ftp.dlink.eu only gets me a request for user and password and looking up ftp.dlink.eu on the EU registry database only gets an illegal tag for the ftp.)

If you need to know about using the JTAG to force a firmware upload let me know and I will get my service manager to dig out our notes on what is required (we have various adapters that we have made to do the job but I think there are commercial units available.
Title: Re: Firmware 1.07 & SSH Access

I get it from ftp://ftp.dlink.eu/Products/dns/dns-320l/driver_software/ (the link is already in my firefox cache data)
I hope I get the adress for this queue from the first messages (other user write it ).
Now tested and I also am asked of user and password.

I hope this a very BIG FAIL of Dlink. Yesterday the ftp server was open and all people was able to download all files...
To Boys from Dlink (as I hope they read this)... very very bad from your part to restrict now the ftp server while yesterday I download the files without no restrictions... Now my dns dlink 320 is a thick as a brick not for my fail instead of your fails.. now what is the solution for me? Buy a new one? or you are going to tell me that I am out of warranty and it is my responsability to upgrade firmware ? Be seroius please.

Ivan...give me your email and I send to you if you want to test it. But as I quote doc file... the file is oficial and download from dlink europe site.

ftp://ftp.dlink.eu only gets me a request for user and password and looking up ftp.dlink.eu on the EU registry database only gets an illegal tag for the ftp.

dlink.eu actually seems to be registered to D-Link (https://whois.eurid.eu/en/?domain=dlink.eu (https://whois.eurid.eu/en/?domain=dlink.eu)). As for the username/password prompt: The site seems to allow anonymous access using the username 'anonymous' and a valid email-address as password - this is (or used to be) quite common practice for anonymous ftp sites (see e.g. http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/A/anonymous_FTP.html (http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/A/anonymous_FTP.html)). Looks legit to me...

Hello

yesterday after search with google i downloaded and flashed V1.07 to my DNS-320LW with HW Version A2.
Update was successfully but today i was not able run the backup on external  1TB USB disk (USB disk hast ext4 format).
Today i downgraded to  1.06b03 and backup is now running.

From this forum entry i see that Version 1.07b04 is for Hardware Revision A3 !! and NOT for Hardware Revision A2 (which i have)
http://www.dlink-forum.info/showthread.php?tid=2559&page=14

Files downloaded from
ftp://ftp.dlink.eu/Products/dns/dns-320l/driver_software/
ftp://ftp.dlink.eu/Products/dns/dns-320lw/driver_software/

Today i realized that the filename contains the Hardware Revision in it _revA3_ , i think this is the reason why is was only partially successful on my Rev. A2 ShareCenter .
ftp://ftp.dlink.eu/Products/dns/dns-320l/driver_software/DNS-320L_fw_revA3_1-07b04_all_multi_20151019.zip

Please check on the botton of your ShareCenter that you have a Hardware Rev. 3 and no older Hardware Revision.

Most of the time Revs in the same class are compatible so Rev A3 FW should work with A1 and any A2 if they were built.

I highly recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office ON the phone and ask them specifically about what is and is not supported.

It's also available for me in the latin american mydlink website, a little bit odd because normally the latest release doesn't appear right away on the latam site.
The release notes are the same.
Also, if I connect to my mydlink account it's asking me for the update and redirects me to de 1.07 firmware download.

Thanks, wasn't asking for anything, just stating a fact.

Anyways, I just installed 1.07 firmware, I gotta say, I really like the new info panel.
Everything seems to run fine on a rev A1 I believe.
But I'm just using it as file nas, not using any addons or features, and haven't tried ssh.

Just tried SSH, not working for me also.
When I first tried, I would get wrong password errors, after a couple tries, and changing the password now I get the access denied error.

Hi

I did suffer from the same issue regarding no working ssh access after upgrading to FW 1.07. After that I downgraded to FW 1.04, since i would like to have ssh access and eventually installed the Fun Plug.

After messing around I decided to upgrade to FW 1.07 once again and after the upgrade I decided to do a "Restore To Factory Default Settings" and see if it would work, and it did.
Here is how I did it:

1. Disabled Fun Plug by removing the ffp startup file.
2. Updated to 1.07.
3. Did a restore to factory default settings.
4. Changed all my settings, so it was setup like before the upgrade and enabled ssh.
5. Did a reboot.
6. Did a power off, by pressing power on/off for 5 sec.
7. Did a power on, by pressing power on.

And now I can connect through telnet or ssh. But I think there are some limitations. may the telnet and ssh server needs some change in the settings?
* When connecting through telnet I get the busybox.
* When connected with winscp, ssh client, i can't move around with files which I could with FW 1.04 and fun_plug.

Regards,
Thomas

Quick question:
Are you all just using "Fun Plug" to get SSH access??

Have you tried "OpenSSH"?

i'm on Ver 1.06 (the one that disables fun plug access) and i can SSH into my box using OpenSSH
Check the ShareCentre Add-on's thread to get it.

I'm in the UK and tempted to upgrade to 1.07 (good idea or not?!?)

For me personally Yes.

FW 1.07 does, according to the webgui, have ssh access, but some can't get it to work and neither could I before I did a factory reset.
The only issue I've now, is that I don't have full access like edit, copy and delete, and this is working fine with the Fun Plug.

I don't know if I should recommend upgrading to 1.07, but normally upgrades are improvement.

I thought that fun plug support was removed in recent version of FW?

Is there a step by step guide to get and use OpenSSH install? Would be helpful to other users if this method works. Please post more details.

sorry for the late reply.

It's easy, just download the OpenSSH add-on from here :

http://dlink.vtverdohleb.org.ua/Add-On/?

Once it's installed that's it! You can SSH in as "root" or any user you have already set up.

FYI. If someone faces the same problem.

It seems that SSH works with FW 1.07 without the need to install any 3rd party addon (like OpenSSH).
All you have to do is write down your settings and then perform a "Restore To Factory Default Settings".
Then set up your NAS manually all over again.

The first time I tried to enable SSH failed,  because after the "restore to factory settings" I re-loaded the previously saved configuration. It seems that for some reason you must set up the NAS from the start.... Anyway this way it works :)

Factory reset only resets and clears the DNS configuration and any add-ons you've installed. All data on the HDDs is not touched.

Basically everything you setup using the webUI - user, with name/password, groups, services assigned to users/groups, IP address if you use a fixed IP address.
