Title: DCS-7513 Runaway Motion Detection
Post by: dirkies on March 30, 2016, 02:48:09 AM
Ever since I updated the firmware of my 4 DCS-7513 cameras (from v1.10 to v1.12), I noticed they became horribly slow, awful quality and very very low bitrate recordings (below 1000kbps in H264 1080p, recording like 1 frame every 5 seconds), even the standard interval blinking green led on the camera itself was blinking irregularly instead...

To cut a long story short I discovered in the end where the sudden slowness came from:
since the upgrade the motion detection went crazy! No matter what I set, even with SENSITIVITY at ZERO % and NO DETECTION ZONE at all (!), it still will "detect" movements every 2 to 3 seconds, day and night, resolution, codec or any other image setting does not matter, it just "detects" permanently, overloading the camera that much it can't even do its basic purpose correctly anymore.

Only solution is to uncheck the motion detection completely, then the camera behaves again as before. I never experienced this issue before the firmware upgrade with the exact same settings.
Is D-Link aware of this and will there be a solution for the next firmware?

model: DCS-7513 rev A, firmware 1.12, using PoE

Was there a problem with the cameras to trigger the upgrade? You might go back to what was working and test....
What region are you located?

Well, the new firmware fixes multiple security exploits that could provide unauthorized access to a hacker, so there was not really an option not to upgrade.

I was on 1.10.00

V1.11.11
1.Fixed the security issue of NTPd issue
2.Fixed the security issue of tunneling RTSP streaming over HTTP
3.Fixed the Cross-Site Scripting(XSS) issue
4.Fixed theCross-Site Request Forgery (CSFR) issue
5.Image improvement

V1.12.00
1. Upgrade to new signing keys for fixing Code-Signing Key issue

I could downgrade but I prefer to keep it this way, as otherwise than this motion bug it all works pretty cool.

I am from Europe, and yes I know it say this is US only but there is no D-Link camera forum for Europe, so I took a shot here. Apologies if I offended you :) If you know how to get this reported to a D-Link resource in Europe please let me know.

Thanks again

Thank you for your information. Unfortunately I don't have any EU resources to contact. I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. Please reference this forum thread as well. Ask for level 2 support or higher. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
