Hi all
I have two DLink 933L cameras and two 5222L cameras...both wireless..set up.
I started having issues with the cameras showing as disconnected in DView Cam desktop.....I spent hours playing with wireless settings thinking it was the wireless. Tried different channels etc.....settled on one channel that appears to be great so far. But even with one of the cameras sitting a foot away from the wireless router, it would still disconnect and reconnect...l
I left the house today with a couple cameras being "disconnected". Got to work and found that every cameras connected via the mydlink mobile app.....checked multiple times during the day and all 4 worked fine.
Got home and one camera shows disconnected in DView desktop....so I switched my android to a different network (xfinity) and ran the mydlink again and they are all showing up fine even though in DView Cam one is not!
So now I have no idea what to think. Any ideas????

What Mfr and model # is the main host router?
Using dynamic or static IP addresses on the cameras? Try static.
Enable uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding on all cameras.
Any external interferences?

Its the same router as before in my other threads under the 5222L camera page....will dig up that info and repost here...an Arris something or other from Comcast.
Using DHCP right now, but when I tried static IP before, all hell had broken loose.
I do believe I already have uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding activated -- its one of the things I had been trying to get things to work right....but I dont have any setting for uPnP and uPnP Port Forwarding in my router as far as I can see.
As far as interference ---the camera is able to be seen via my android app...its just DViewCam that isnt seeing it.

Static should not cause problems unless you sued a IP address with in the main host routers default IP address pool which you should not use. It should be outside of the pool range.

But if it's an ipad address issue why can mydlink see it but not dviewcam? Is mydlink registration independent from open address?

Possibly that DVC isn't configured right or there is something blocking DVC from fully accessing the camera. MDL works on either cameras that are set up as Dynamic or Static. I know this what I used to have my DCS-933l as static ON the camera, then switched to a reserved IP address on the main host router. Works either way with MDL.
What version of DVC do you have?

What version of DVC do you have?
It is 4.1.40.0 and device pack 1.68...I had downloaded it directly from Dlink and that was only a couple months ago.
All 4 cameras worked great from my first post above to this afternoon....got home and one of the 5222L cams (the one that is sitting next to the wireless router) has disconnected from both MDLINK and DVC.....I had touched NOTHING between then and now.... :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(<sigh>
Also...if I plug in a LAN ethernet cable it pops in immediately to DCam and after a refresh is available on MDL mobile app again.
I had UPNP disabled on it, so am gonna try turning that on again.....but that is in the network settings, not the wireless, and like I said, I plugged in the cable and it was there immediately even with that turned off.
Now, I just unplugged the cable and it is GONE again everywhere, the red light is on, on its front instead of green blinky.
Pulled the power to it, then restarted, and now its online again....for now.
This is how it acted before.
So, now, THAT camera is back.....but the OTHER 5222L that has been working fine, is NOW disconnected from DVC AND MDL, and the 933L that was working great is now out as well. I had to reboot it and plug a cable into it to get it back on MDL, but it is still not connecting to DVC....even with the cable plugged in.
I can see the 933L on MDL (while connected via cable) but I CANNOT access it via browser at the same IP it has had all along -- when I plugged it in DHSCP changed it to a different one. SO I changed it back and made it static....and disconnected the cable, and it was still there.
Ok, so I went ahead and got access to all 4 cameras, set them all to static Ip addres, turned on UPnP and UPnP Port Forwarding on all 4. They are all running on DCAM, all accessible by IP on the consol,...worked fine......played with the port setting for one of the 933L cams, and NOW, the two 933L cameras are showing red Xs on MDL.
Soooooooooo...thinking I screwed up the one camera by tinkering with the port setting, I reset it.....or so I think I did....reran the setup software for it.....was successful, with MDL on the PC saying it sees the one camera but not the other.....I got out for 20 minutes....come back...and ALL 4 cameras are now disconnected on DVC...on the MDL app, the 5222L cams show connected but will not let you connect to them...the 933L cams show red Xs.
This is insanity. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

v4 of DVC is not currently supported in the NA(USA) region, Lets load up v3 and see how it goes: http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=63729.0 (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=63729.0)
Fully uninstall v4 before installing v3.

First off, the version I am running is what the DLink site gave me--- where would I find the older version?
But, that is not the extent of the issue --- the cameras have all also become unreachable via typing in their IP, even the one that shows as connected in my router (the others do not) and only ONE is shown as online on my MDL app....the others show red Xs.....al even when connected to the LAN via a cable I cannot get them to connect. The ydo show green steady lights.
When this happened to the last 933L, Dlink walked me througgh multiple attempts to reconnect and then ended up telling me to exchange the camera.
How do ALL 4 CAMERAS, that were working fine, more or less, suddenly go bad, in the same hour?
I contemplated buying a brand new noncable company wireless router and modem (I currently rent their) but I am skeptical at this point that its a modem or router issue.
Have power cycled everything...even spent an hour with the cable company on the phone and they reset my modem and router etc......everything else wireless in my house works fine.....just the DLink cams are problematic.
The whole idea behind my trying these DLink cams was to avoid the long hours and hassle involved in running wiring for cameras. I have spent hours and hours and hours of time tinkering, and back to where I started.
I feel very defeated. The return window for the first ourchase that started all this is up in a week and I have to decide whether to return all the cameras and forget it or find a solution that STAYS working.

I had actually clicked on a link in another message thread....I didnt realize it was for a UK version.....

That all said, the DViewCam software likely has little to do with the cameras dropping of of MyDlink and being unavailable on my network via browser, right?
-
Would either be a wifi connection issue between camera and router or a MDL service issue.

Would either be a wifi connection issue between camera and router or a MDL service issue.
When I got home today I saw that one camera was showing up as one IP address (10.0.0.09) on the router but could be accessed if I used 10.0.0.5
NO idea why so I called the cable company to ask.....their script-readers could only reset my modem again.
For whatever reason though, once everything was up again I was able to get into one camera...so I decided to use my video edit computer (windows 10) to try and see if things would run any better...I eventually got all the cameras back online...changed back to DHCP and used the factory settings for most things.......so, with the 4 cams running on mydlink on the second computer AND on the android MDL app, I got brave and loaded the version of DCAM you suggested. AT first it ran great....all 4 cams hummed along nicely.....
But within an hour, one camera (my orignal 522LB1) started dropping out again.....I am using the bitrate labels on the display so I can see it......the other three cams were running nice and fast and consistent, between 1500 and 2000k.... this one was runing at 476, then 0 , then 675, then 0 etc and would eventually drop out to black for several seconds....eventually reconnect and run 476, 0 , 675, 0, 476, etc and then drop out again.....
One of the 933L cams also started doing this, and did it for a half hour or so, but then came back and is steady right now
The 933 cams are telling me that the network is at 100% signal......and one of those are in a room next door to the one having the issues right now (the 5222 in my livingroom).....
I have the extenders turned on on boith of the 933Ls.....
The only thing I cant really do is run an actual ethernet cable to the livingroom camera to see if the issue is wireless or not.....
I contnue to be at a loss as to why this is so goofy....
As an aside, how does "QOS" work? I have tried "0", "1" , "10" and higher but seem to see no difference in performance...
As a last ditch, I tried moving the antenna on the ceiling mounted livingroom cam.
That knocked it off the network altogether......tried pinging it and got 75% loss.
Soooooooooooo maybe THAT one is a wireless reception issue, but that makes no sense......one of the 933L cams are in a room further away from that one and has strong signal though Iam not sure if it is pulling signal from the router in the basement level or from the extender on the other 933 in the garage even further away but on the same level as the basement.
Finally, unplugged and replugged in the livingroom camera......after startup it is cooking at a nice steady 1600-2000k stream.......and I did nothing.
But I know it will start to bog down and die again.
If it were solely a WIFI issue, it shouldnt come back so strong right?
I guess one option would be to run an ethernet cable directt o it and see what happens......but then what is the point of having a wireless camera......<sigh>
WOndering if the DCS5222 will work with a NVR style system of another brand. I was rthinking I could return the 933 cams and get a whole new cabled NVR system....but am stuck with the 5222 because it can no longer be returned.
So unhappy and defeated.

Just as an update -- before I went to bed last night, when I posted my last post, I restarted the livingroom camera.
As mentioned, it was fine...this mnorning it is down again.....no connection at all....pings "unreachable". Green light is on steady. WHen I ping it, it sends 4 packets and gets back one.....says its unreachable.
So, what I just did (6:09 am before work) is swap out the basement 5222L with the livingroom 5222L......both are currently up on DCAM , I can access the livingroom camera (10.0.0.152) via browser, and the same camera pings fine. WIll watch it hrough the day via mobile and see if the problem follows the camera or not....if not, its the location affecting the camera.....if it does its the camera, or its associated connection I guess right?
**UPDATE 040716 825am est:
Well, about two hours later, the 5222L is offline again, in its new location (sitting next to the router). The one that was in the basement (sitting next to the router) is now in the lovingroom and it is still online...so I do not believe it is a WIFI issue...... Not sure what to do at this point. I guess I can go thru the rest process for the failing cam....but this is getting old. What causes this to begin with? Any other things to try?
-
So the swapped camera that was working in it's old location that you swapped with the one that seems to fail is still working ok?
Seems like the problem camera is tracking to it's swapped location and probably needs to be RMAd. I would phone contact D-Link support and ask about this. Let them know what you did and you seem to have narrowed it down to this one camera.

Well, it gets better.
I checked on the cameras all day off and on, via my android app. One of the 933L cams did "disconnect" briefly but came back......the one that had acted up in the livingroom location and was moved to the basement location had disconnected as already mentioned...but the others stayed connected all day.....
Until I got home and checked again.
The 522L that was working fine all day ALSO went out sometime this afternoon. So now BOTH 5222L cams are disconnected on MDL, on DVIEW, neother are reachable by ping......the one that had failed earlier has a solid red light now.....the second one still has a solid green light.
Luckily I also talked to the store where I bought the first 5222L.....the store will extend me store credit for it, even though its out of the return period, given the steady stream (no pub intended) of problems. I hadnt been sure whether to take advantage of that or not at first....but getting home and finding the second 5222L ALSO dead?
I think its time to return everything and cut bait. I had to be "beaten", and I know some folks here claim their cameras work great.....but I have been messing with this for almost 3 months.........it should not be this crazy unreliable.
Thanks, Furry Nutz for all your help (it hasnt been clear if you are DLINK or just a normal user).....The package of what these cameras are advertised to offer is VERY nice and attractive......but there are so many flaws with the advertised features it really is very frustrating.....
I could have lived with the two way audio basically being useless.
I could have lived with the SUPER SLOW meovement of the camera relative to control input.....
I could even deal with the dead-out-of-the-box ones......
And I realize that some of the issues could be "user error" or "environmental issues".
But the least these things should do is stay online for more than a few hours or days at a time before needing major attention.
I aimed for WIFI cams because it promised to not be time consuming and difficult what with wiring etc a hard wired camera.....
But in that effort, I have instead had to spend HOURS AND HOURS playing with resetting, reinstalling etc EVERYTHING, on the phone with DLINK (who do not seem to know how to do anything but wlak me through a script and then at the end say its a defective unit) and my cable company trying to chase problems in the rest of my LAN that dont seem to exist, or at least are not a problem for every other wireless device I have.
I dunno.
Like I said, I feel defeated.....I REALLY wanted these to work.
But sometimes you have to cut bait and row the boat to shore and start over on another day.
:'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( :'(

Let me see if I can get some additional resources on this. Seems to inconsistent here. I understand the frustration. Let us see if we can figure this out.
-
Don't have much to offer except some basic trouble shooting.
Can you remove the extenders and put the cams in the same run as the router and see if it holds connection everywhere for more than an hour or 2(like a day? )
Then do the same test, add in the extenders in the same room? See if that holds or drops out in the same room.
When I have my old ipod touch 2.0 on, it knocks some of dlink cams offline. Check your router logs for errors.

When having problems with a wireless device, the first basic troubleshooting step is to connect a wire. If you can, take one of your cameras and connect it to your router via an Ethernet cable. If you have to move the camera close to the router to accommodate whatever length of cable you have handy, do that. Turn off the wireless settings on the camera so that it is connected via Ethernet. Then let it stay that way for a day or so, and monitor it for stability. If you're still having issues, then we know that you have a hardware issue (less likely in my opinion) or a local networking issue (more likely). I have a hunch, though, that it will be fine, and thus that your problem lies in your wireless network and the use of extenders. But let's try the cable first to eliminate a few things.

Thanks for this. However, I had tried a whole bunch of things. True I did not leave the cameras hooked up very long via cable....but I didnt buy cabled cameras....I bought them to be wireless....
I had already swapped the various cameras for others at the store, tried various locations, channels, etc.....extenders on, extenders off.....in the end it is just too much hassle.
The DLink product , to me, was the most attractive one in the store.....the list of features were awesome for the price.....however, the features didnt work.
The two way audio NEVER worked right, on three different cameras....
Two cameras I had bought (one 5222 and one 933) was dead out of the box. The others started off great and then degraded.
ALl 3 of the 5222 cameras I tried has a distinct "burning electronics" smell to them.....that made me uncomfortable and maybe an indication of some design issue that caused the slow degradation of performance wirelessly? Dunno.
I have returned the 3 cameras I bought to the store for store credit. Thank God I wasnt out the cost of the 5222.
Guys (gals), I really gave it a good shot.....but running around in circles for 3 months was ENOUGH> I love gizmos that work.....but I didnt plan on making the upkeep of a camera system at my house ad full time hobby.
And honestly, by the number of "open box" specials at the stores I visited, the fact that SOME cameras had labeling from 4 years back and some were new, and the very mixed bag of results you get when googling these cameras, I do not believe I am in the minority.
Thanks to you folks for your help and suggestion,s but I am waving the white flag and going cabled. LOL

Sorry it didn't work out. Good Luck. ;)
