Title: [SOLVED] DWA-192 does not detect 5 GHz networks
Post by: Chris DB on April 20, 2016, 01:35:49 AM
Hello,
I have tried all drivers available at http://support.dlink.com/ProductInfo.aspx?m=DWA-192 and none of them seem to work with 5 GHz networks.
The adapter only works with 2.4 GHz networks, and does not see any 5 GHz networks.
I have Windows 8.1 and the router is TP-Link Archer C7 V2. I tried different channels and configurations .. it doesn't show up. Mean while, other 2 adapters can see and connect to the 5 GHz network.

Any advice ?

What happens if you temporarily disable WPA on the main host router and try to connect the 192? Re-enable WPA after testing.

If this all fails, I presume the unit is faulty and needs to be replaced or RMAd.

I am from Romania. I have contacted local D-Link support over the phone and they said they'll get to me back later tomorrow after they familiarize with the product. It's new on the local market.

I tried disabling WPA and still doesn't show up.

I looked in Advanced driver configurations in Device Manager, and there are some quite exotic parameters. I tried disabling beam forming, since this is not supported by my router, but to no avail.

So nothing could prevent the adapter from NOT seeing 5 GHz SSIDs except a faulty device ?
This could not be caused by a configuration ?

If you have other devices that sees the 5Ghz radio and connect correctly and the 192 does not, then we can presume the 192 is faulty if using default settings and out of the box configuration.

Only thing I would try is a different PC with a different main host router with 5ghz support and see.
Test using the default set up wizard.

If all this fails, 192 is faulty and needs to be RMAd.

It worked.
I had to change the country region to Romania on the router. Regulations are strict on this adapter, unlike the other 2 that I have.

Ah, I didn't know about that. I'll keep this in mind. Thank you for sharing info on this.

Enjoy.  ;)

What was the original country region setting?

What was the original country region setting?
The router came shipped with USA.
