Title: Lost wifi and can't get it back
Post by: Jklangbehn on April 28, 2016, 12:15:51 AM
Hello, I am very frustrated.

I had a Dlink router until My building built in erthernet in out me entire went nuts, too alike to reset. I came back from spring break and my router wouldn't power on.

So I bought a DIR 860L, it worked great for 2 weeks. Now I can keep a stable wifi connection

I have a Mac Air about 3 months old
On my Dlink router
I updated FW as notified so I'm FW version 2.03

I have reset the router several time to factory standard.

I connect my laptop to an open port on the router, I'm able access router page and change all the necessary
Info: ssid name and pw for both 2.4 and 5 (different names)

Ok
So I have tried channels 1,6,and 11 on the 2.4 band. None of those have improved the stability for more than a minute or two.

I'm at a loss

I'm in very small apartments in Seattle, there are a bunch of wo do near me from my building - but there has been since I moved in, this is the first time this remains a problem.

The only connection that is stable is I connect my Mac directly to the Ethernet at the wall.

That means no media streaming or air printing.

Help!!!

Router Placement
Forum User - "Well I feel really dumb. After moving the router away from other electronic devices my speeds are back to normal. Just a heads up for anyone experiencing slow speeds, you might want to move it away from other electronics and see if that helps."
3-6' feet minimum safe distance between devices.
Placement on main level floor and central in the building and WELL ventilated is preferred. Not in basements or closets as building materials, or near by electronics devices could interfere or hinder good signal propagation.
