Title: Help needed to remove deleted files
Post by: cdtplug on May 02, 2016, 03:02:39 AM
Hi I have a single hard drive in my 320L and have noticed I can still see files that have been deleted when I go to play videos from 3 smart tv's. I can't see the same deleted files if I use Kodi on my dire stick though.
I enabled the recycle bin hoping they would be in there but they weren't.
SO my question is how do I get rid of these ghost files.
I'm currently on firmware 1.06
I've ran the scan disk tool several times from the web config.
I also saw others having the same problem http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=45982.0

Hi its HW version 4 and firmware is 1.06.
Another strange thing is it doesnt show any new media I add on the smart TV's, unless I do scan under multimedia services.
Again works fine on kodi

Not sure it will work but try installing QuiXplorer and browsing to the folder

I know QuiXplorer deletes some files that are in protected folders

Let us know the results

Hi I downloaded that and to be honest not sure how to run or install it.

I tried various file explorers via my laptop and android phone and none could see the deleted files that were still showing on smart tv's.

I can also see the deleted files in windows media player

Did you happen to clear any TV configurations or reset the TVs to clear out any prior file history? Makes me wonder if TVs are keeping a history that needs to be cleared and reset if there is such a function.

Did you download from here  http://dlink.vtverdohleb.org.ua/Add-On/ (http://dlink.vtverdohleb.org.ua/Add-On/)  choose correct device

Install by login to NAS - Applications - Addon Centre - browse to downloaded file and install
Login to QuiXplorer I believe is admin + password  admin

Thanks, look like you may have sorted it for me, installed the plugin and could see the files ad folders that had been deleted.

I removed them via the plugin and did a refresh on the multimedia services. Will check on the TV's after that.

Thanks for all the help.

Hi

I'm having the same problem with an LG tv, I've used QuiXplorer and the files that the tv sees arent there when I browse the directory. Any ideas if there is a recycle bin or something else that could be showing remenants of the deleted files ? Anyone got any ideas of things I could try to make the tv not see the files ?

cheers

Jason

I honestly believe that it's the tv that's causing the problem.  I had a similar issue with a Sony BDE Home Cinema system - it would show files that had been deleted and also files with the original and new name even though the file had been renamed.

My only fix was to use Kodi and allow the Sony BDE Home Cinema system to access that database.  I'm pretty certain if I went into the Sony BDE Home Cinema system and looked at attached devices (for my NAS rather than Kodi) those damn pesky files will still be there.

I suspect that it's the tv too. I thought it may have a database somewhere that needs updating but today was the first time it had been in that partictular directory on the nas!. I'm going to mail LG and see if they can shed any light on it
