Title: DNS-320 - problem with 3TB WD HDD
Post by: MadAxeman on May 11, 2016, 03:50:17 PM
Hello,
I have a problem with my storage. I have 3TB Western Digital Purple. The problem is that when I reach around 2TB of the capacity I'm unable to write on the drive. The speed drop down to 0kbp/s. Sometimes after few seconds it start to copy for 2-3 seconds and drop down again to 0. I opened a ticket in D-Link Self Service Portal 3 months ago but I don't have any result from the support team. Moreover the ticket is canceled!!!
Then I bought another 3TB hard drive - WD Red series. Same problem. I'm thinking the problem is with the firmware, but both hard drives are in compatibility list.

My storage is HW:B2 and the firmware is version 1.02 (Firmware Date 04/23/2014). I'm using Windows 10.

Does anyone met such problem?

The same problem with Windows 7. Both OS are 64-bit.

Edit:
I found old Ubuntu Live CD. I've tried to copy 200MB file and it begins to copy but it fails with error- Connection timed out, but I'm able to browse a folders in the storage and the connection is fine.
I have another 160GB hard drive in the storage for test. The file has been copied without error with this old Ubuntu 8.04, Windows 7x64 and Windows 10 x64. I don't believe that the problem is in the OS.

What drive format are you using on the 3Tb in the DNS? Standard or Raid(#)?

I'm using standard configuration. At the moment in the storage is only 1 hard drive. I've also try to another NAS slot just to be sure that it is not port problem.

Try a different drive as well...
