I purchased DIR 605L from Amazon and it was delivered yesterday. I have a 10Mbps connection. I am facing speed drop after connecting the router to my modem. The speed drops to 5Mbps. I have the Huawei MT130u modem https://www.acanac.com/blog/hardware/huawei-mt130u/ (https://www.acanac.com/blog/hardware/huawei-mt130u/). I contacted the tech support team at Acanac and they told me that it is the issue with my router. Is there a fix for this? Or should I return the router?

How did you test the connection?
How many channels are bonded on the modem?
What is the signal levels on the modem?

Link>Welcome! (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48135.0)
- What Hardware version is your router? Look at sticker under the router case.
- Link>What Firmware (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=47512.0) version is currently loaded? Found on the routers web page under status.
- What region are you located?
- Are you wired or wireless connected to the router?
- Has a Factory Reset (http://blog.dlink.com/what-is-a-reset-button-when-should-i-use-it) been performed?
Internet Service Provider and Modem Configurations
- What ISP Modem service link speeds UP and Down do you have? Link> Speed Testing Sites (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48352.0)
- By-pass the main host router and check internet connection by connecting a wired LAN PC directly to the ISP modem to verify connection access and ISP speeds.
- Check cable between Modem and Router, swap out to be sure. Link> Cat6 is recommended. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CAT6)
- Check ISP MTU requirements, Cable is usually 1500, DSL is around 1492 down to 1472. Call the ISP and ask. Link>Checking MTU Values (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53008.0)
I recommend that you have your ISP check the cabling going to the ISP modem, check signal levels going to the ISP modem. For DSL or Fiber service lines, ensure that the ISP is using good working phone or cable lines to the DSL modem and that the phone lines are filtered correctly. For cable Internet, RG-6 coaxial cable is needed, not RG-59. Check for t.v. line splitters and remove them as they can introduce noise on the line and lower the signal going to the ISP modem. I recommend having the ISP service physically check the lines going from the out side to the ISP modem. Connecting to the ISP modem could result in a false positive as the signal to the modem could be just enough to that point then adding on a router, could see problems. The router operation is dependent upon getting good data flow from the ISP modem and the modem is dependent upon getting good signal from the ISP Service.
Router and Wired Configurations
Some things to try: - Log into the routers web page at 192.168.0.1. Use IE, Opera or FF to manage the router. Besure to log into the Admin account on the router.
- Turn off TrueGigaBit Routing (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=60699.0) under Setup/Internet/Manual for those routers that have this feature for testing.
- Turn off ALL QoS (http://vonage.nmhoy.net/qos.html) or Disable Traffic Shaping (DIR only) GameFuel (DGL only and if ON.) options, Advanced/QoS (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quality_of_service) or Gamefuel. For the DGL-5500, review this for Streamboost information and settings: Furry's DGL-5500 Review (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=55136.0)
- Turn off Advanced DNS Services if you have this option under Setup/Internet/Manual or under Setup/PARENTAL CONTROL/Set to>None: Static IP or Obtain Automatically From ISP.
- Enable or Disable Use Unicasting (compatibility for some ISP DHCP Servers) and test under Setup/Internet/Manual. Disable may help with speed performance on higher speed ISP services.
- Turn on or off DNS Relay (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=45143.0) under Setup/Networking. Link>Finding Faster DNS Addresses using Name Bench (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=53222.0) and input new DNS addresses under Setup/Internet/Manual.
- Setup DHCP (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=58017.0) reserved IP addresses for all devices ON the router. Setup/Networking. This ensures each devices gets its own IP address when turned on and connected, eliminates IP address conflicts and helps in troubleshooting and maintain consistency for applications that need to connect as well as mapped drives.
- Ensure devices are set to auto obtain an IP address.
- If IPv6 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ipv6) is an option on the router, select Local Connection Only under Setup/IPv6.
- Set Firewall settings to Endpoint Independent for TCP and UDP under Advanced/Firewall. Enable or Disable SPI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SPI) to test.
- Enable uPnP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Upnp) and Multi-cast Streaming (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multicast) under Advanced/Networking. Disable uPnP for testing Port Forwarding (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=4235.0) rules. Enable IPv6 Multi-cast Streaming for routers that have a Media Server option. Disable IPv6 Multi-cast Streaming if IPv6 or Media Server is not being used.
- Turn off WISH (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=40459.0), and WPS under Advanced.
- WAN Port Speed set to Auto or 10 or 100Mb.
- Set current Time Zone, Date and Time. Use an NTP Server (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48695.0) feature. The DST setting is only needed in the NA region. Tools/Time.

Can tell me how to check the number of bonded channels?
I am getting full 10Mbps speed when I am browsing directly from my modem. The moment I start using it from the router, the speed drops. Signal levels are 100%.

Log into the cable modem.
I googled it, and didn't see any information related to help?
If I google motorala cable modem IP - it comes back and I can log into the modem webpages with that ip (192.168.100.1)...
Your router is docsis 3.. so it should be with all the bells and missing whistles...
where are you located? 10Mbps isn't much.

Please give feed back on the questions presented so we can better help you with this.
Also check with your ISP to see about bonding information as well.

Reinstalling the firmware did the job for me! I am getting my full bandwidth. I guess the previous firmware had issues.
I still do not understand why my speed dropped ???.

Glad you got it working.
