Title: DNS Host Name Mapping - wildcard possible?
Post by: yokoso on May 31, 2016, 02:36:40 AM
I would like to configure the Router so, that all requests from inside the LAN to *.mydomain are forwarded to a certain IP (which is also in the LAN).
On some other Router I was able to simply enter *.mydoain -> x.x.x.x , but that seems to not work here.
In the Manual it only says:
"Host Name: Provide a valid host name"
Now obviously *.mydomain is invalid, is there anyway todo what I want, maybe some complex syntax - instead of the simple wildcard?

Thanks

It's possible that this model router needs specific name values and may not support wild cards. I don't have any specific information regarding this so I recommend that you phone contact your regional D-Link support office and ask for help and information regarding this. We find that phone contact has better immediate results over using email.
Let us know how it goes please.
