Title: Multimedia Transcoding Not Supporting
Post by: d4v1dv00 on July 16, 2016, 10:25:14 PM
Hi there,

I would like to do real-time transcoding of videos over uPNP DLNA, unfortunately it's ain't have the feature/power to do so.

Please advise alternative ways.

ps/: tried Plex add-ons, miniDLNA

As you have discovered real-time transcoding requires a reasonable amount of computing power and a small ARM based NAS box does not have that power.

You could try using your computer for the transcoding and then store the transcoded videos back on the NAS.  They should then stream without problems (provided your DLNA device can do that).

Exactly, perfect statement.
Also, just to mention, Plex Addon is NOT officialy supported by DNS 327L NAS, but I can tell v.1.18 (September 29 release) with FW 1.07B06 is very better comparing to the previous versions, works flawlessly.
