I recently returned to a Cable ISP previously dropped a year ago and plugged my router back into the cable network. It allows internet connection, but when I access the web page, it is frozen on the Status/Device Info page and I can't make any changes or update firmware. I have tried factory reset and even reconfigured with installation CD but always end up with the exact same issue. Help please. HW A4/ FW 1.32NA

Well, I tried again today. Factory reset the router, power cycled the modem (Surfboard 6141), turned on the PC (with nothing else plugged into the router). Paused several minutes between each step. Still get the exact same issue. Need help soon, as I am onsite at my remote station and will be returning home 1500 miles away. TPLink is looking like an option to replace this router.

Found helpful info on this forum about IE11 incompatibility so I switched to FireFox and was able to browse the router web UI. Downloaded and installed latest FW update successfully, then went back to IE11 to check. Sure enough, showed new FW version but same-o problem trying to browse the web UI. I am confirming incompatibility of DIR-655 rev A4 with IE11.

Just put the router's web page into Compatibility Mode in IE 11. Then you will be able to use it with no issues.

As Dave suggested and from my own experience with my Rev A unit, when using IE11, compatibility mode needs to be enabled with using this router.
Also your FW is behind, however if the router is working well, there maybe no need to update.
Enjoy. ;)

You are correct. I put that LAN address in the compatibility list and it works. Thanks, guys.
