Title: Router has 2 SSID with same name - one is unsecured
Post by: keith.toppazzini on October 12, 2016, 07:57:36 AM
During a Sonos install in my house the tech reset my router and created a second network that is unsecured with the same name as my secured network.  when I go into the router I can't find the unsecured network to delete it only shows the secured network.  The issue is that I my wireless devices are only picking up the unsecured network as of late.  anyone with a suggestion??

thanks
Keith

You can find wireless settings on your UI located in this location:
Sample - http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dir655/133NA/Basic_Wireless.html (http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dir655/133NA/Basic_Wireless.html)

CHeck to see if Guest Zone was set up:
http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dir655/133NA/Guest_Zone.html (http://support.dlink.com/emulators/dir655/133NA/Guest_Zone.html)

Your FW is behind FYI...

Thank you and I have confirmed that the guest zone is not being used and in the other location, only the secured network is showing.  Is there a secondon page that would show the unsecured network with the same SSID

There maybe a different neighboring WiFi source thats un-secured that the tech connected your unit to.
Link> Use a WiFi Scanner (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?topic=48327.0) to find out. How many?[/li][/list]

The 645 only has 1  wifi radio, thus 1 SSID name or if Guest Zone is enabled, then that would also appear. If GZ is disabled, then only the 1 SSID name will be seen and no other.

Very odd.  Both networks are named exactly TopsHome3 and both show on my laptop one being unsecured.  I will wait for the tech.  Thanks you have been helpful.

Do you have any other wireless APs in your home? Reason for asking is that your ISP modem may have one or something on the device your using may have it's own wireless.

Temporarily change the SSID name on the 645 to something else and test. Change back after testing.

I will give that a try once I get home.  Possibly the sonos system has its own router.

Possible. I know ROKUs do and some D-Link wireless cameras do.  I wanna say I think I saw something about SONOS.

Let us know what you find out.
